Onder de Boompjes
Sylvius Gin
Gin fans around the world probably have a poster of Franciscus Sylvius up on their bedroom walls, as he was (according to certain legends) the first clever chap to register a juniper berry distillate called Genievre which eventually became the gin we know today. This is why the Dutch distillery Onder de Boompjes has named their fantastic spirit after him, calling it 'Sylvius Gin'. It's inspired by a number of traditional recipes, using 10 fantastically fresh botanicals.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Big, fresh notes of lemon, with juniper and angelica developing soon afterwards.
Palate
Malt, cinnamon and vibrant star anise are the main players here, with a flowery lavender hint and some cheeky liquorice hiding deep within.
Finish
The finish lasts quite a while.
Overall
Worthy of the Sylvius name? Absolutely!
