Master of Malt
Another lip-smacking batch of cask-aged gin joins our exclusive Master of Malt collection. This is a bit of a secret weapon if you want to add some extra complexity to classic gin cocktails (just wait until you try it in a Negroni), and it'll provide an excellent base camp for botanical explorations in other cocktail realms too. It's also cracking sipped neat – as you would with other aged spirits, so what we're really saying is it's incredibly versatile, far more so than your regular gin. Bolstered by a four-year stay in a bourbon barrel between 2017 and 2022, layers of barky botanicals and resinous, oily juniper shine alongside mellow oaken vanilla. A release of 308 bottles.

Waves of oily, resinous pine and juniper tangle, backed by buttery charred oak and barky spice. Hearty helpings of citrus follow, with candied orange, waxed peels, and herbaceous lemon balm in tow.
Soft, creamy notes of lemon posset and floral vanilla are supported by earthen herbs, barky botanicals, and fragrant, toasted spice.
That resinous, piney juniper lingers on alongside oaken vanilla, orange blossom, black pepper, and a smidge of clove.
The descriptions in the tasting were over the top in my opinion, but I do know righteous stuff when I drink it and this gin is in a different ball game. Neat with a large ice cube or with a San Pellegrino light plain tonic and ice.
I'm pretty loyal to Blackwoods 60% as my go to gin, I rarely ever bother buying anything else. Sadly this tipple isn't on MoM so I have to buy from Amazon. But, this cask aged gin came up with a £10 discount and seemed really interesting and worth a punt, so I snapped it up. You get the cask first on the nose and palette and then the juniper really comes through after that. Innovative stuff! I'd definitely buy again.
He likes it enormously but drinks it neat as a liqueur.. too good to mix with vermouth!
Something of a bargain given the depth of flavour and aging. Happy in a G&T but lifts a negroni. Ordered 6 more bottles!
Ordered one of these as it was on offer. Just tried it and ordering two more bottles - really enjoy the combination of juniper and the cash influence.
