From The Black Bottle Distillery in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, this release was created using fermented malted barley (quite unusual for a gin) and botanicals including orange, lemon, lime, clove, lavender and vanilla.
Floral lavender rises through sweetening juniper and sharper citrus while warming spice from clove percolates throughout.
A very strange gin which takes a bit of getting used to. The lavender prominence threw the usual gin-y type flavourall out of whack in a GandT and it didn't mix well with the usual tonic. Tried it with some other mixers and it was quite pleasant. Definitely worth a punt!
Unexpected, refreshing, original and unique, do not pass this by. Hubby bought this for me and I wasn't sure what to expect! I don't know how to describe the flavour, does it have a "gin" flavour? Yes but not prominent. Would I buy again, absolutely. Genius.
This has to be a 5 star gin for it's daring bold flavour. Perculiar or strange is never got to be a negetive here. It's friggin good gin but that shart bold limeyness dowsed in some round vanilla taste is quite the feat. One could get use to this as a daily tipple although not so much a natural taste when it comes to all things gin. One thing you cannot accuse it to be is chemical, it's simply smooth and nothing unpleasant to give it that tag. Great gin, incredible price....What could go wrong?
