Made in the same way as Inverroche's Verdant Gin, except this time the Fynbos botanicals from the Cape Floral Kingdom used are from coastal areas as opposed to the mountainous region. These South African botanicals are used during distillation (using the vapour infusion method) and a subsequent infusion with the coastal botanicals providing a much darker hue as well as a different flavour profile.
Rounded, woodsy spice character alongside the expected Cape florals with touches of tobacco leaf and nutty complexity.
Inverroche Amber is a wonderfully different style of gin. I first had it in a speakeasy type bar in Cape Town. I love it with a strig of fresh rosemary.
Lovely deep flavours with a great refreshing finish. Now on my must have list.....
Oh, god, I LOVE this gin! It is the BEST gin I've ever tasted (I also like their classic gin, but my heart truly belongs to the Amber) -- and I have experimented with lots of gins. Please, please, please, figure out how to ship to US -- you did it a couple of years ago and now I'm about out of Inverroche and need a new infusion! Hurry!
I purchased this while on a recent trip to South Africa. Just tried it yesterday in a gin + tonic with a squeeze of lime. It has spoiled me forever for any other gin. Our guide (who recommended this gin to us) said he prefers his with Fitch + Leedes tonic water + grapefruit zest. I may try it with just the zest of lime next time - or just the tonic water. Also excellent neat. Glad to find this site - don't have to go all the way back to South Africa to get more!!
I had this at a friends house on Friday and it is an interesting and different gin. There is a a lot of competition at that price point though.
