Lilac, chamomile, a whisper of raspberry, fragrant juniper and some grassy freshness.
Coriander, red berries, honey, swiftly followed by another generous wave of vibrant floral elements.
The final juniper notes are a touch oaky, with rose and clementine in support.
This is an absolutely awful concoction. Think plain gin mixed with Ribena. Why gin distillers think they have to muck about with ingredients just to create a so called unique experience is beyond me. Some additions simply do not work and this is one of them. It certainly couldn’t be used with other than tonic water and even then the taste is thoroughly unpleasant.
I don’t like sweet, fruity gin normally but this was just at the cusp. A good squeeze of lemon with the tonic brought out mango flavours. Very drinkable.
Had this in a pub with a splash of light tonic, and slices of cucumber and orange. Absolutely stunning. I am not a fan of sweet drinks but this was not sweet or sugary, just full of interesting flavours.
I agree with the last review - this is a rather sweet gin. I love original Hendricks, but this one is not for me as I find the taste far too fruity and floral, which really overpowers the juniper notes.
Not a bad gin, standard Hendricks quality. I found it a bit too sweet for my liking found myself wanting to move on to a more complex spice based gin after a couple of g&TS. I think it's a great gin if you prefer your gins sweet, worked really well in an elderflower martini. Maybe not the gin for you if you don't have a sweet tooth though.
