The new incarnation of Hawthorn's London Dry Gin still pays homage to the creator's seafaring grandfather, a commander in the British Navy during the war, and also still features botanicals sourced from all over the world, including juniper from Macedonia, nutmeg from Sri Lanka and cassia bark from Indonesia.
The brand revamped its core expression to increase the strength from the previous edition, which was bottled at 37.5% ABV, to 41% ABV which, in our opinion, makes that zestiness shine.
Zesty, enjoyably oily and handsomely herbaceous.
Ok gin at a great price. Would rather pay a bit more for some of the finer smoother gins out there.
I've not taste a gin so smooth and silky before and Hawthorn's is the most wonderful addition to my drinks cabinet. I'd read something about it online so thought I'd give it a whirl and very pleased I did - it's an excellent gin and I highly recommend it. I'll be back for more soon. Thank you!
Unswayed by the uncharacteristically low price I plumped for this....not expecting much but not really caring either for the relatively low investment. I take back any negative thoughts I may have had (only because of its low ball price) and can officially say this is one of the best gins, if not THE best gin, that I have ever had. Mightily impressed and I love the brand's heritage too - from a destroyer in the second world war to the bar in my living room! Aye Aye Skip!
Oh my!!! At risk of being in original, my new favourite!!!
My new favourite gin - A definite 'must' for your wish list!
