A citrus forward expression, Silverback Mountain Strength Gin is produced in Four Marks, Hampshire, by the Gorilla Spirits Co., using a base of 100% British wheat spirit and featuring juniper, angelica, calamus root, sweet orange, coriander, acacia blossom and lemongrass. The still which produces this gin is named Mugwaneza, which is Kinrwandan for 'She who is content'. It's not just a name either, Gorilla Spirits Co. donate £1 from every bottle sold to The Gorilla Organisation to help fund the conservation of endangered Mountain Gorillas.
Sweet, floral coriander waft up first, followed by freshly-zested-orange-peel notes and a whisper of lemongrass.
Herbaceous spice and orange segment sweetness. Touches of juniper in the background.
Citrus at the fore. Very clean and refreshing.
The first bottle disappeared very quickly so will be needing another. Definitely suited to Summer drinking and sunny days, although trying it on March didn't stop us! The sliver of orange peel definitely adds to the drink too.
Lovely smooth gin with a refreshing blend of citrus & spices - make sure you get the right tonic so as not to lose these amazing flavours, the No.9 Cardamom tonic was just perfect - the sliver of orange peel just made it. Have heard it's also good with a slice of green apple and will be giving this a try next.
This gin was very tasty with a slice of orange, you can only smell the orange. I found myself sipping slowly so the experience would last longer - a drink I can't wait to experience now on a sunny day!
A gorgeously smooth gin rounded with flavours of coriander and lemongrass. Wonderfully smooth and refreshing neat (alarmingly quaffable, in fact) but really something special with the No.9 Cardamom Tonic. I will definitely be getting a bottle!
This is a lovely, subtle gin. Very drinkable neat on ice with orange peel, would be sheer heaven on a summers day! Most definitely this is going to become my new favourite drink!
