This limited edition Liquorice Root Gin from Northern Fox was created with Yorkshire Pontefract Cakes in mind, which are, in fact, not a cake. They're not even anywhere near a cake, as they're actually a small black sweet made solely of liquorice. Apart from liquorice root, there are only two other botanicals in this gin. If you like liquorice, then this one's for you! It works pretty well with ginger beer, too.
Super liquorice-y, with just a slight undertone of juniper alongside. But mostly liquorice.

This gin has a real liquorice root taste, slightly woody followed by a lovely natural sweetness. Definitely worth drinking with ginger beer as suggested to get an added layer of fieriness! :)
Flavour isn't liquorice, it's like all the liquorice flavour has been removed and all you taste is the woody root left at the end. Not at all like we were expecting.

I bought this for my Dad for Christmas and he loved it!! I’m going to have to invest again for his birthday. Well done with flavour guys, excellent traditional liquorice taste .
I usually like to guzzle my gins especially pineapple and rhubarb. So easy to drink. I love the taste of liquorice too so thought I’d give this a try. At first I thought nothing of it as I couldn’t taste liquorice at all. Then I slowed down a bit and took sips mixed with ginger beer and plenty of ice. Then that liquorice root taste comes through with a slight delay. Very nice. I have a nice warm glow after a couple ?
