Downton Distillery can be found on the Wiltshire Downs overlooking Downton and the River Avon. For Explorer's Gin, botanicals are both macerated and vapour infused. Among pink pepper, bay leaf and Sichuan pepper, the star botanical here is Western Red Cedar, initially brought over from America in 1852 and now grown in the distillery garden. Which brings us to the inspiration behind the gin, the Golden Age of Exploration, when from the 15th century through to the 17th century European ships travelled around the world just generally exploring things. It seems only fitting then that there aren't any recommended serves with this one, only to explore and find what you enjoy!
Fresh and full of flavour, with herbal notes leading into piney citrus, chilli spice and candied citrus, with peppery fruitiness lingering.

Customer Rating
“Came across the gin at Junipalooza this year. It is nothing like I usually have and the cedar is clever twist to their heritage and history. The gin is a London dry with a core citrus profile. To taste like a roller coaster - juniper, citrus, creaminess from verbena, then warmth from the peppers. There were some around me who picked up hints of mints and aniseed. I have had this on the rocks and enjoy it with tonic and citrus peel. They did recommend grapefruit. ”

By far my favourite gin - not just the taste is outstanding and unique but the whole brand concept and case of the founder is amazing
My son just bought me a bottle for father's day. He is a Downton & so am I. Happy days
If the flavour had not sold it to me, it was their sustainability and refills that did! Love it.
We have heard it all before, the USP to brands and why we should buy their product. We met the distiller of this brand at a local county show, the passion, care, attention to detail, let alone the spirits he had us try, brilliant. If you haven't - try.
Outstanding gin - rich unique taste, premium quality product and packaging, and very cool website and brand story created by the owners
