    Aviation Gin

    Aviation Gin

Please note: bottles may have original black label, or the special edition Wrexham AFC label (the Welsh football club that Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney own!)

Aviation gin is a brand of gin brought to fame by Ryan Reynolds. it is distilled in small batches in Portland, Oregon.

Aviation Gin was founded in 2006 and takes its name from the Aviation cocktail, which was created in the 1900s. The gin takes a Dutch-style rye spirit base combined with juniper, lavender, anise, sarsaparilla, orange peel and cardamom. The botanicals are steeped in grain spirit for 48 hours before they are redistilled.

Aviation is one of the most popular gins on the market, and it has won numerous awards, including a gold medal at the San Francisco world spirits competition.

Aviation Gin is an intriguing tipple, with a very handsome Gatsby-esque bottle. A fabulous gin to go with its eponymous cocktail, though we wouldn't suggest you wing it. (Geddit?)

Aviation gin was founded by Ryan Reynolds and his business partner, Michael Howard. The two had been friends for years, and they shared a passion for aviation (the cocktail and the activity) and gin. they decided to combine their interests and create a gin that would be perfect for aviation enthusiasts. Aviator Gin, if you like.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Crisp notes of juniper alongside delicate floral sweetness, parma violets, a touch of citrus peel and some green vegetal notes in there too, with a pinch of spice.

    Palate

Wonderfully spicy notes, more prominent than on the nose, cardamom shining through and a scattering of cinnamon, with floral notes continuing.

    Finish

Spices linger, along with the return of citrus peel.

    Awful taste profile

Horrible gin, but in fairness, I think it's the profile, not that the gin is bad. I don't like cardamon, so to me this is just bitter and astringent. One of the few gins in a G&T that I couldn't finish. If you like a citrussy or traditional London style gin, I think you'll hate this. If you like brockmans or Poetic Licence Northern gin, you'll probably love it.

Don't compare it, try it a few different times see if you can spot the different subtle flavors!

It is a very smooth Gin with lot's of subtle flavor, I think thats why people seem to think it's not as good I love Tanqueray 10 gin but it's very juniper berry, this has that but a little more subtile, I really enjoy it with lemon and tonic water, fresh lemon. I have to say I've had a LOT of so called great gins, but I think people get a little booze snobby, I will continue buying Aviation I like it and discover new subtle flavor every time I have an ice cold glass. Give it a chance, wait till you've tried it three or four times and don't compare it to other gins, I think you'll find it very interesting and tasty.

Not great, but not awful either.

I love the bottle. This perhaps is where it ends. I was expecting a juniper hit that just isn't there. It's not a bad gin (for me anyway), I'd put it on a par with Bombay Sapphire. Not great though. Still love the bottle though.

    Excellence

Incredible gin. The balance of crisp fresh and spice are spot on. The gin is clean and yet flavoursome on its own. Add a slim line and an orange slice and you have the best gin of 2020

    pour down the sink

The absolute worst gin I have ever had. It tastes of licorice. Terrible in a martini. Rancid straight. Drinkable with a sweeter tonic. I have never regretted buying a bottle as much as this.
