Daffy's Small Batch Premium Gin is made with grain spirit from northern France, which is then distilled using a copper pot still. The Scottish distillers use a selection of eight botanicals for Daffy's Gin, including juniper, Lebanese mint, coriander, angelica root, Spanish lemon and orange peels, cassia bark and orris root. It has been bottled at a very specific 43.4% ABV, as the distillers believe this to be the perfect strength for their expression - not excessively punchy, but with enough power behind it for balance and flavour.
The bottle design, incidentally, is the work of Robert McGinnis, the American artist who made film posters for various James Bond and Matt Helm films as well as Breakfast at Tiffany's and Barbarella!
Vibrant, juicy orange notes burst forth, with well-rounded earthy juniper and cool, refreshing hints of mint.
A good balance of citrus and juniper, with chewy fruit sweets and coriander coming through clear.
Angelica and sweet lemon are rather pronounced on the finish.
Absolutely delicious Gin, probably one of the best I have ever tasted. I particularly love it on the rocks, with a little tonic water. Shall be buying this again.
Massive disappointment - I don't like it at all. There is nothing outrageously flavoursome [maybe I hate Lebanese mint - but I love every mint I've ever tried!] the botanicals are all quite standard. But the combined flavour result is awful. I have had 2 large shoots, weeks apart [just to make sure], sipped before adding tonic - both times, awful!! I can't drink it - I'm gonna have to give this away. I have over 150 gins on my shelf, this is only the 2nd gin I have ever found that I don't like!
Have drunk it for the last few days. Enjoyed it very much. Good strength. Balanced botanical. I like high juniper gins but with addition of the usual botanicals and Lebanese mint yes.
For gin fans, a nice spiking gin on rocks. If using tonic, find one with reduced quinine...it overpowers! Fever tree Mediterranean works nicely. And add some mint!
Not bad, nothing standout to be honest. It offers nothing more than a gin half the price. This is where I mark a line...if a gin is £25+ it must deliver something different and Daffy's does not. That said ...if u like a sweet summery gin then this is fine, but there are better alternatives £10-15 below.
