The folks from Crossbill Gin have stepped into another dimension with 3D Juniper Gin, bottled by that Boutique-y Gin Company. Produced up in Scotland, this London dry gin is made using a combination of blue and green juniper, fresh juniper needles and even some juniper wood!
A mouthwateringly sweet nose is soothed by soft and delicate aromas of creamy juniper, lemon balm and jasmine. Waves of pine and liquorice root linger underneath, with helpings of vanilla pod, fresh linen and warm doughnuts.
Spicy bites of stem ginger and coriander keeps earthy angelica and clean juniper in good company. A thick but well refined palate then introduces notes of sherbet lemon, water icing and violets.
Sweetly floral and well-spiced, a distinct note of dried violet petals soaking in perfume joins a little gingerbread.
A refined depth and brilliant balance of classic flavours means this gin is absolutely begging to be put in a Martini.
Opened on my birthday today after being gifted it some year ago. Wonderful!
As good as it gets
Right - so the two reviews on this - one says it tastes like nothing and one says the juniper hits like a freight train. So wich one is it . I agree with the second Definitely 3 x juniper and if your interested in green and pine it’s great.
Kind of nothingy. Definitely up itself at that price. I bought when on offer at half price and still wouldn't buy it again
Read “begging to be put in a Martini” as “really needs something to take the edge off”. There’s no doubt this is a juniper gin. It comes through like a fright train followed by rather unpleasant chemical / pharmaceutical alcohol flavours. Rough, discordant & lingers like surgical spirit. Drinkable when drenched in lots of aromatic tonic.
