A small batch Scottish gin from the Balmenach distillery in Speyside. Caorunn (pronounced ka-roon), made with a combination of traditional and handpicked botanicals including rowan berry, heather, coul blush apple and dandelion.
Floral at first, with notes of heather and citrus blossom. Juniper takes shape as it develops.
Orange oil, rosemary and a subtle sweetness of heather honey.
Drying juniper and leafy herbs. A pinch of peppery rye lingers.
Very distinct taste. Love at first taste.
Bought 7 different bottles of Gin over Christmas and this was bar far the favourite... And to top top it off, went to Tesco yesterday and found they had priced it incorrectly at £11.00 !!! I cleared the shelf
The only gin I will drink, so glad to discover this.. Thanks Gin God....
It's very mild. Personally, I prefer the flavors in gin, and especially juniper, to be turned up to 11. This is a gin turned down low so as not to bother the neighbors. The flavor's there, and it's really quite nice, centered on juniper but with some nice complexity and a bit of fruitiness around the edges... but if you aren't paying attention it'll just slide right by as kind of a faint juniperish impression.
Such a delicious gin, perfect with tonic and a bit of green apple garnish, goes down very smoothly!
