This London Dry Gin, repackaged and rejuvenated under new ownership in 2013, takes its name from Boodle's gentleman’s club in St. James's, London and is now produced at the Greenalls distillery.
Famous members of Boodle's gentleman’s club included former Prime Minister Winston Churchill and James Bond author Ian Fleming, which of course makes Boodles an obvious choice for a Vesper.
Churchill also enjoyed gin however and Boodles may have been his favourite brand. I read a story the other day of how Winston added so little vermouth to his Gin Martinis that sometimes a mere glance in the direction of France would suffice!
Boodles's tastes like what London Dry Gin is supposed to taste like, and London Dry Gin is what gin is supposed to taste like. It's my standard of reference.
Excellent suttle flavours compared to harsh Bombay gin. Best with 5oz tonic... Lots of ice... Tall glass... Double lime and zest the rim !
Boodles mulberry gin definitely the best gin my wife and I have ever tasted and luckily found it in M&S afraid we have now become addicted to it. Not that we are complaining.
It can be a bit harsh in the mouth on first taste but it does mellow and become a gin that develops. It's interesting and good to try, it's not my fav. but it is good, true gin flavours and a surprising back notes keeps you thinking..... Yes I can see why drinkers like it... it's a drink that can run the night......
Stronger than Bombay Saphire but with a smooth after finish.Very enjoyable.
