    Bertha’s Revenge Irish Milk Gin

A gin from Ballyvolane House named after Bertha, a Droimeann cow from Kerry said to have been the oldest in the world when she died aged 48 in 1993. The gin uses whey alcohol from Irish dairies as its base with locally foraged botanicals.

The concept originates from Ballyvolane being the Gaelic for 'the place of springing heifers' and botanicals include juniper, coriander, bitter orange, grapefruit, sweet orange, lemon, lime, liquorice, orris, angelica, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, cumin, almond, elderflower, and sweet woodruff.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Almond, hay, dried juniper and orange peel, too. Floral angelica. Cumin spiciness develops.

    Palate

Spice arrives first, with plenty of clove and cardamom. Soon becomes creamy and vanilla-y, joined by fresh citrus peels.

    Finish

Slightly oily juniper. Lime and liquorice root.

No whey it’s made from cows milk!?

Tasty gin with a funny back story. Bertha did not die in vain. Travelled from source and was very well priced. Thoroughly enjoyed this drop with a squeeze of lime.

Best most mellow gin Ive tasted and yet carries hint of spices .

Tasted this for the first time in Thomas Connelly pub on holiday in Sligo .... even better than mother's milk and great for this ageing lady . Ordered 2 bottles on Amazon to arrive for my return home to Devon .

    A fantastic Irish gin!

This is hands down my favourite gin of all time! It not only tastes delicious but has a fantastic story too. It is an 'Irish Milk Gin' which is highly unusual, named after the oldest cow in the world from County Kerry in Ireland, Bertha. What I love about this gin are the different ways you can drink it. It is excellent with tonic, with a splash of water, in cocktails or just on its own!

    Fabulous gin

I first tried this in a bar in Hokkaido, Japan after a day snowboarding. Loved it then served with cardamon amongst other things. Loved it so much I buy it online and pay all the import taxes to Aus, which virtually doubles the price, why doesn't someone in Aus import this? It has become my favourite winter gin back in Australia, neat. Just delicious!
