There's a reason why people call the St. George Spirits founder Jörg Rupf "the patron saint of American eau-de-vie". When he founded the craft distillery in 1982, he made eaux-de-vie using the delicious fruits growing in Californian orchards, including a Pear Brandy. This was during a time when very few Americans knew what eau-de-vie was, but Jörg started something big - the American craft distilling movement, something that almost everyone in the USA knows about.
Over 30 years later and delicious Pear Brandy is still being made by St. George Spirits using organic Bartlett pears. It has an incredible aroma of perfectly ripe pears, vibrant and fruity. Absolutely top stuff.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose Freshly prepared Pear Tarte Tatin with crispy pastry and an extra sprinkle of cinnamon. Maybe even a slice of apple pie alongside.
Palate Firm but juicy pear flesh, pear peel and old fashioned pear drops coated with plenty of icing sugar.
Finish The finish is warming with cinnamon and icing sugar lasting.
Overall Pure and simple, it's everything you could want from pear eau-de-vie.
