It's the flagship single malt from Westward Whiskey! First, Westward brew an American pale ale using locally grown malted barley, and this is then double pot distilled. It's then aged in lightly toasted new American oak barrels before bottling at 45% ABV. This is certainly a spirit for bridging that beer and whiskey gap!
Stewed dark berries, vanilla rice pudding and some maple syrup, with crunchy orchard fruits.
Cigar box and spicy oak, leading into barley sugar, biscuity malt and spiced apple.
Melted dark chocolate appears alongside brown sugar and a pinch of tobacco.
It is a uniquely flavorful and robust, full-bodied, sharp-textured dram that has lots of spice, vanilla, and honey. It's well balanced. It doesn't feel great after sitting on the palate for a while, and the finish has a touch of smoke and coffee, but doesn't last too long.
Good, v. tasty, powerful stuff, but NOT as complex or as long as it should be for £60+.
This whiskey has a lot going on - vanilla, spice, caramel, and chocolate. It's absolutely delicious. There’s a bit of honey flavor too so it’s a little sweet, which I love! Very rich and nicely balanced. Happy to add this to my regulars.
A real delight. This really made me rethink my whole stance on American Whiskies. Its beautiful sweet caramel nose opens up to reveal a lovely vanilla and woody palate - with a nice long finish. This would be perfect on a Christmas pudding or Vanilla bean ice cream.
I never heard of this whiskey before so was skeptical but OMG THIS BLEW MY MIND! Every sip was a discovery of new flavour I never tasted in any Scotch single malts. Well done guys! Highly recommend
