Slingsby
Spirit of Harrogate was founded in 2014 by Marcus Black and Mike Carthy, who named their gin after William Slingsby, a 16th-century English adventurer who was said to be the one to discover that Harrogate’s Tewit Well water had supposed valuable properties. The town’s spa was the inspiration behind the brand, which aims to celebrate this heritage by working with local suppliers and forging ties with the community. Spirit of Harrogate’s expressions, such as the wonderful Slingsby London Dry Gin, were unsurprisingly made utilising this unique water source, as well as a selection of botanicals from the area (with additional botanicals sourced from the world over.) Though the recipe is local, the brand’s spirits are actually sourced from the Alcohols distillery in Birmingham.
