Schlumberger Wine

Schlumberger is one of Austria's most storied sparkling wine producers, with a rich history that dates back to 1842. Rooted in Vienna, the brand has become synonymous with high-quality traditional method sparkling wines, known in Austria as "Sekt."

Founded by Robert Alwin Schlumberger, who hailed from Stuttgart, the beginnings of Schlumberger's wine story are in the vineyards of Vöslau, south of Vienna. Robert, after gaining experience in the Champagne region of France, brought the art of traditional sparkling wine production to Austria. He is credited with producing Austria's first sparkling wine made in the traditional method.

From the outset, Schlumberger was committed to quality, sourcing grapes exclusively from its own vineyards. This approach ensures control over the entire winemaking process, from vine to bottle. The wines are made in the méthode traditionnelle, meaning secondary fermentation occurs in the bottle, much like in Champagne. This process is labour-intensive but is integral to the complex, fine-bubbled character of Schlumberger wines.

While Schlumberger is best known for its sparkling wines, the range is diverse. From the crisp and lively Brut to the elegant Rosé, each wine showcases the depth and finesse of Austrian terroir. Schlumberger also produces a limited range of still wines and has ventured into spirits.
