Ron Santiago de Cuba, founded in 1862 in Cuba’s oldest city, is the second-largest premium Cuban rum brand. After the 1959 revolution, the brand was nationalised, and production moved to the former Matusalem distillery in the Sierra Maestra, using sugarcane molasses from the region.
