Linden Leaf Gin

Linden Leaf is known for its organic spirits and essences. The company values innovation and top quality. It mixes old distilling methods with new technology to find exciting flavours. Linden Leaf aims to make spirits that stand out, whether served neat, with mixers, or in cocktails.

The company is proud of its Single Note essences. Each essence captures a unique flavour or ingredient. The Soil Association has given all Linden Leaf products an organic certificate. This shows the company's commitment to organic farming and quality.

The story of Linden Leaf began with three food and drink enthusiasts from Cambridge. They were scientists and engineers. They enjoyed cooking and were keen on the science of taste and smell. One evening, while having a gin and tonic, they talked about changing food tastes with science. They thought about making better natural extracts. They wanted to find and mix the perfect flavours. From this idea, Linden Leaf started.

The team began by testing ingredients and how to extract their flavours. They found that small changes could make big differences in flavour. They also found that tastes could be quite surprising. They used their knowledge of Big Data to test and analyse their work. They had lots of help from friends who tasted their creations.

The co-founder Mukund enjoys the brand because it lets him travel and find new ingredients. Matthew has a background in Astrophysics. He loves to cook and has many wines and spirits. He likes trying out new extracts. Paul used to lead big projects. Now, he enjoys cooking complex recipes and enhancing them with Linden Leaf essences.

Linden Leaf perfects its products at the smallest level. It uses cold extraction technology. This keeps the fresh aromas of the ingredients intact. Sometimes they use heat to bring out richer flavours in things like liquorice and coffee.

Even the best human noses cannot catch every scent. Linden Leaf uses a method called gas chromatography to help. This separates a mixture so their experts can nose each part. They also use mass spectrometry. This shows exactly what molecules create each aroma. This precise work helps make sure every product is consistent.

Linden Leaf is making a Blending Atlas. It will be a library of important flavour molecules. The team is learning how to get the right amount of each molecule. They use taste tests from many people to understand how we sense blends. This helps them find which scents and tastes work well together. This work does not replace traditional blending. Instead, it helps guide them to create great flavour combinations.
