Domaine Georges Vernay Wine
George Vernay is revered as a pivotal figure in the preservation and elevation of the Condrieu appellation in the Northern Rhône. Recognized as the ‘King of Condrieu,’ George Vernay played a crucial role in reviving the Viognier grape, which had nearly vanished by the mid-20th century. Under his stewardship, the estate flourished and significantly contributed to Viognier's resurgence and the growth of Condrieu as a notable wine region.
The Domaine Georges Vernay, now run by his daughter Christine Vernay, continues to be highly esteemed for its exceptional wines. Their offerings include the famed Coteau de Vernon, which is considered one of the benchmark wines of the appellation. In addition to Viognier, the estate also produces wines from syrah, including highly regarded reds from the Côte-Rôtie appellation
