Finnish Gin
Finnish gin has emerged from the shadows of more traditional gin regions thanks to innovative producers like Kyrö, Arctic Blue, and Muteman utilising the best of Finnish nature from its forest botanicals to crystal-clear waters. What Finnish gin lacks in history, it more than makes up for in quality and distinctiveness. Traditional gin botanicals like juniper berries are found in abundance in Finland, but local distillers also incorporate less common elements such as Arctic bramble, lingonberry, sea buckthorn, and even cloudberry.
Kyrö Distillery made headlines when its Napue Gin was named the “World’s Best Gin for Gin & Tonic” at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in 2015. The ingredients in Napue reflect the nature of Finland, including meadowsweet, sea buckthorn, cranberries, and birch leaves.
