    Rémy Martin VSOP Cognac

Rémy Martin VSOP is a cognac that has been produced by Rémy Martin since 1724. The name "VSOP" stands for "Very Superior Old Pale". Rémy Martin VSOP is made from a blend of Grande and Petite Champagne cognacs and is aged for a minimum of four years in French oak barrels. Rémy Martin VSOP is characterized by its smooth, mellow flavour and its amber colour.

Rémy Martin VSOP is one of the most popular cognacs on the market and has won numerous awards throughout the years. Rémy Martin VSOP was awarded a Gold Medal at the International Wine and Spirit Competition in London in 2011, and a Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2012. Rémy Martin VSOP is also a favourite of celebrities, including Jay-Z, who has mentioned the cognac in several of his songs.

An immensely popular VSOP Cognac from the ever-dependable Rémy Martin. The blend contains 55% Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie, the rest being made up of the Petite Champagne. Well-suited as a postprandial tipple, but can also be used in cocktails that need a hearty helping of complex Cognac flavours.

    Not for me

Lacks fruity notes and has no depth of taste. Terrible for this price!

    unpleasant

Good for what it is, not single malt

I've hated it until last night. This time it was subtle, fruity, easy to drink. The harsh alcohol was not there. I find that I often need to go back to a drink without expectations, sip it gently, and enjoy for what it is not what I want. I enjoy sweet peat, Ardbeg fan, still looking for a great blended inexpensive Scotch. I do like good brandy also.

It is all marketing, remember that..

it's a play on words... Hidden in plain sight! Mature cask - meaning the casks are mature not necessarily the spirit. Mature casks = 3rd, 4th, 5th even gozillionth refill casks that are tired & lifeless with no wood esters left for flavour, just vague remnants of the previous spirit that last sat in them. This gives you a smooth yet bland, easily forgetable & unintresting experience. Good wood is hard to find & at a premium in the aged spirit industry atm & it's getting worse... Quantity over quality seems to be the business mentality as profit drives success at present not the other way round! This is bad for consumers & the only way to curb private sector greed is afarmative action & boycoting of any consumer product that is of poor quality. Hit 'big business' in the wallett is what I say, maybe then they'll listen, it is all up to us as consumers to act.
