A very ornate bottle of Sélection des Anges from the wonderful Ferrand. Made from Ugni Blanc grapes, the Grande Champagne Cognac has been aged for 30 years, so it's choc full of fruit and aromatic spices. The striking decanter is presented alongside an equally eye-catching case, complete with golden illustration adorning the front.
Delicately floral to start, spiced dark chocolate and caramelised nuts following, with vanilla fudge, candied ginger and a pinch of tobacco.
I've always been a fan of ferrand cognacs and the SDA has always been a desert island bottle for me, rich and complex, fruit driven and not overly woody. A bottle that will always be welcome in my home/bar
Very nice cognac. Back when they didn't jump the price up another $100 with the roll over into a new year.
