The term XO was coined for this very Cognac by Maurice Hennessy in the 19th century, and it was first bottled in 1870 for family and friends. This blend is composed of over 100 eaux-de-vie from the Grande and Petite Champagne, Borderies and Fins Bois regions. A rich, spicy, complex and truly historical Cognac, destined to be had alongside a cigar.
A rich, fruity palate with prunes, Corinth raisins and sticky toffee pudding.
Dark chocolate and over-ripe plums. A little sultana character, cocoa butter and spice.
Spicy, vanilla-led finish with all kinds of dark fruits.
Just took it for the first time. Its mellow, with a rich taste. Soft on the palate. I'd take it anytime.
I first sampled this elixir some 30 years ago on a holiday trip to the Bordeaux region which coincided with my 21st. We enjoyed the Peter Ustinov narrated documentary on the history and a trip to the storage facilities where the heady scent filled your brain with the delight to come of the tasting! I have since educated many friends to this magnificent brand. May have to take a bottle with me to the afterlife! St John Bevan
I got a bottle of Hennessy X.O. Couple years ago for a friends birthday. When we opened it, it was amazing! It's warm and inviting, the taste is was everything that was promised and for some reason it reminds me of Christmas. I can't wait to get my own bottle and I have become a huge fan of the Hennessy brand.
