A classic VSOP cognac, this is matured for between 8 and 12 years in a selection of Troncais and Limousin oak barrels.
The Courvoisier brandy used in this bottling is sourced from the two premier regions of Cognac - the Grande Champagne and the Petite Champagne regions.
Whole coffee beans, mint leaves, kumquat, and red grape notes appear at first. Give it a minute and more savoury elements appear, with hints of buttered brown bread and a little whiff of sawdust.
More coffee notes as it opens (this would be a really good partner to espresso after a big meal). Develops touches of brown sugar, waxy apple peels, sweet pea, and a fragrant oakiness.
Ooh, a nice waft of almost-smoky cinnamon on the finish. Slowly becomes sweeter with fresh pear and gummy bears.

It's a creamy, smooth, brandy with lots of tastes and after tastes to savour. One of my favourites. It's full of flavour and we'll worth keeping a bottle in.
I was really smooth, and great on the rocks. The Remy is a tad better but this was great for the price.
A bitter, dry aftertaste, almost salty. I found it an unpleasant and a 'mass-produced' product much like a cheap blended whiskey.
Not a fan of the new "Fine Cognac" blend, preferred the old one. It's allegedly good for cocktails, but isn't that what the Exclusif is for? Seems more like a cost cutting exercise. The tasting notes on the Courvosier website are broadly accurate, but it still seems like a step backwards.
THIS COGNAC IS NO LONGER CALLED FINE CHAMPAGNE COGNAC VSOP IT IS NOW CALLED FINE COGNAC VSOP,IT TASTES DRY AND WOODY WITH A BITTER AFTER TASTE .
