Comtes de Champagne is the upmarket label, or prestige cuvée, from Taittinger, one of the Grand Marque houses. As such it uses only the finest grapes from the best vineyards in Champagne. This Blanc de Blancs is made from 100% chardonnay from five Grand Cru vineyards: Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger. This is on fine form now, especially with shellfish, but will keep and improve over 10-15 years at least.
Yeasty nose, fresh with green apples and citrus notes. Intense and concentrated with lemon juice and rind notes. After time it opens up and shows a creamy, nutty side like a mature Burgundy.
