From Osbourne, this edition of Carlos I was matured and finished in centuries-old, hand-selected Amontillado casks from the Solera de Amontillado La Honda, which was founded in 1857.
Classic nutty notes from toasted almond lead with plenty of cedar and rich oak. Vanilla and hints of smoke emerge with time.

Ignore the the uneducated low reviews. Carlos I Amontillado is a high-quality Brandy de Jerez that exceeds the typical age requirements for a VSOP, making it comparable to an XO (Extra Old) level or higher in terms of maturation, although it is classified differently under Spanish regulations. As said before with another review it is the lest sweet of the range (the others are too sweet for me) but still has a degree of sweetness with a deep, dark fruity, raisin beautiful sumptuous taste.
This is one of the lesser sweet Brandy the Jerez I ever had, although still has the Jerez character, unexpected and very pleasant.
Hi everybody, I bought this expecting to find a new addition to one of my favourite brandies namely the normal Carlos 1 but you would be hard pushed to find the difference between them. It’s so suttle even when compared between them head to head as we had one of each of these and it’s simply hard to detect any new flavours. In my eyes your just better of buying the normal Carlos 1 Solera gran reserva as this just fell flat on its face and failed to meet expectations completely. So 3 stars for the brandy but looses 2 out of the 5 and the 1st out of the 2 was for over pricing for what is basically the standard Carlos 1 going by taste - (subjective) .The other is for failing to meet expectations as mentioned above and poor marketing.
This Brandy is matured in Amontillado casks, and I must admit, I am not very keen on the taste of this Brandy. Even after cradling the glass in my hands and slowly warming the Brandy, I still find the taste, not to my liking. I also found the Brandy had an after burn on drinking and gave me a Headache the following Morning (not a hangover). None of the other Carlos Brandies, have the after burn or give me a Headache (so far). Of course this only my opinion, and others will enjoy this Brandy, it is just not for me. I would not purchase again, my first choice of Carlos is Carlos I Solera Gran Reserva Brandy de Jerez, which costs £10 less, slays this Brandy in every respect.
