The Metaxa Private Reserve is made yearly by the Metaxa Master, who selects the well-aged expressions of Greek brandy from the extensive cellars. Following this, he blends them to create the Metaxa Private Reserve, the cream of the Metaxa crop, if you will.
Honey-dipped dark chocolate, coffee beans, light floral notes and rich oak.
Cigar box mustiness, figs, raisins and orange zest.
A long finish with hints of smoke.
Intensely enjoyable from the nose to the finish.
Metaxa Private Reserve is simply a delicious brandy that is definitely a great addition to your drinks cabinet. How can I describe it? Balanced, sweet (not in a sickly way at all), smooth. If you're unsure about the full purchase price, I throughly recommend trying the sample version. It's a big claim, but I assure you that you won't be disappointed.
I have come to enjoy Metaxa's brandies very much and have drank and tasted them all from 5 star up to AEN which would be a 80 star or 80 year old. I must say all though the private reserve is very very nice the best in terms of purchasing one every 2 weeks is the 12 star grand Olympian reserve it ticks all of the Greek brandy boxes it has depth and sweet and ever so slightly brandy butter tones with that treacle or molasses taste on the back of the tongue and oaky toffee and just screams "I'm dangerous because I'm very very tasty and will get you drunk because I'm so moreish". Any Metaxa is worth buying and trying but you just see if you can find and buy 12 star grand Olympian reserve I will bet you can't for a good reason it's just that dumb good demand out paces supply !!!!
