Paraguay
Legado Distillery
Here's something a bit different – a fruit brandy made from salvaged Paraguayan mangos! The mango tree was introduced to Paraguay due to its wide canopies, providing shade in the country's intense heat, but it's an invasive species and now, there are thousands of tons of mango waste littering the streets each year. Buscadores makes use of mangos collected from the streets of the capital city, Asuncion, distilled into a mango eau-de-vie which is rested for 18 months in French oak casks that previously held malbec wine. An exciting, characterful spirit for sipping, and ought to inspire some tasty twists on all sorts of cocktails.
