Bissac
Bottled by Casson in the 1970s, this Bissac French Brandy tells a story on its label. A story of brandy being made, presumably in France. What a lovely and appropriate story.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!

I drank Bissac brandy quite a lot in the 1970s. I liked it and preferred it to Martel because it was rough. It was a brandy that took a person by the throat and made it's presence felt in a way no there spirit I have ever tried has. The Bissac bottle had a satin finish and was extremely tactile - much more pleasant to hold than a smooth glass bottle. The most distinctive thing about Bissac brandy was the colour, which wasn't the usual amber but rather resembled liquorice water, so dark was it. I think if it was poured into a large glass or jug it would appear as black as pitch. We bought our spirits from the local Co-op Wines and Spirits shop, Northgate, Newark, Nottinghamshire, UK. I regret being unable to buy the brand today.
