A sublime dry Vintage Gin Martini made in collaboration with The Candlelight Club – a fantastic “pop-up” bar with a 1920s Speakeasy flavour. Since 2010, the Club has been throwing exclusive parties in secret London locations, lit by nothing but candlelight! Guests dress in period outfits, and enjoy live jazz and superb cocktails!
The concept of the ‘Vintage Cocktail’ range is simple – you get all the ingredients for a superb cocktail pre-mixed, all you have to do is pour it over ice, stir, then strain off into your glass and garnish (in this instance with a few olives or a twist of Lemon Peel). Each bottle carries a subtle set of roman numerals in the top right-hand corner indicating the year that the cocktail was ‘born’.
By pre-mixing the vermouth with the high-proof Gin, the danger of your martini being ruined by fusty or tired vermouth becomes a thing of the past. We’ve tried this cocktail after 6 months or so under glass, and it’s absolutely superb – in fact it beat a freshly-made version using the same ingredients by 6 votes to 1 in a blind taste test!
A perfect sweet/savoury balance, with hints of parsley and the aniseed kick of freshly cut tarragon. Aromatic notes of peppercorns, menthol, perfume, lemon thyme and citrus zest really entice the nostrils.
Crisp and zesty, very well-balanced notes of fresh herbs, lemon oils, cedar wood, seasalt, perfume and lavender. Dry and very more-ish!
Clean and crisp, a lovely hit of spice on the tail.
