This is an ultimate version of the Old-Fashioned Cocktail - widely acknowledged to be one of the oldest cocktails in the world. For this Ultimate version the ingredients include the very finest and rarest rye whiskey and bourbon from the 1960s and 1970s, as well as handmade cocktail bitters! The result is truly staggering.
The concept of the ‘Vintage Cocktail’ range is simple – you get all the ingredients for a superb cocktail pre-mixed, all you have to do is pour it over ice, stir, then strain off into your glass and garnish (in this instance with a slice of orange peel). Each bottle carries a stamp showing its year of manufacture.
To serve, simply fill a tumbler with ice, pour in a large measure of The Old Fashioned Cocktail, stir, and add a twist of orange peel (expressed over the glass).
Huge spices and intense, musty orange zest. A little potpourri, dried herbs and cocoa butter appear, with black pepper and vanilla.
Cherries and huge peppery spice from the rye lead the way. Cocoa develops, with allspice, cinnamon, candied oranges and crème brûlée.
Bittersweet finish with intense marmalade and spice.
