Cask-Aged Negroni (4 Months)
This is a superb vintage cocktail from The Handmade Cocktail Company's Experimental Series. It was made to a classic Negroni recipe with premium-strength English copper pot-still gin, top-quality sweet vermouth and a mix of Campari and Aperol. It was then aged for four months in an oak cask, and the result of this is all kinds of spicy intensity and additional complexity.
The concept of the ‘Vintage Cocktail’ range is simple – you get all the ingredients for a superb cocktail pre-mixed, all you have to do in this case is pour it over ice, stir and garnish (with a healthy slice of fresh orange). Each bottle carries a stamp showing its year of manufacture.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Sweet and very spicy nose with dried herbs and orange peel. A little tangy lemon and juniper. Very rich.
Palate
Thick, complex palate with notes of mixed herbs, dessert wine and cinnamon. A touch of pimento and vanilla.
Finish
Juniper and herbs on the finish. Sweet and tangy.
Overall
A superbly musky, rich, intense Negroni... Just superb.
