Aske Stephenson Peanut Butter & Jam Old Fashioned

What do you get if you try to mix a peanut butter and jam sandwich with bourbon? A sandwich which falls apart when you pick it up due to the additional moisture resulting in a loss of structural integrity. However, if you're still determined to enjoy the delicious notes of bourbon and PB&J in one mouthful, Aske Stephenson have you covered with their Peanut Butter & Jam Old Fashioned bottled cocktail. Hitting classic bourbon notes alongside juicy raspberry jam and salted peanut butter, it's fantastic served in a rock glass over ice. It even comes in a bottle sealed with raspberry jam-scented wax!

This comes to us from Aske Stephenson, the creation of Thomas Aske and Tristan Stephenson of Fluid Movement fame. Keep 'em coming, team!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Peanut butter and jam. Not comically so, this is still a whiskey cocktail, but it's definitely there. The rye in the bourbon complements both, one moment it's nutty rye, the next fruity, with corn adding roundness.

    Palate

Warming raspberry jam, more rye spice and rich, creamy caramel.

    Finish

Slightly drying (more nut influence?), then into Elvis' jelly.

    Overall

We were excited about this, but not sure exactly what to expect. We should have known not to worry.

Probably not worth the money, in my opinion I'd just buy Jack Daniels next time

It's not a bad bourbon, but like a previous reviewer said it's more exciting on the nose, I think this may be down to the raspberry scented wax they have used to seal the bottle. To me at least I feel it tastes like Jack Daniels, however I have only had a mouthful so far. Just don't buy it expecting it to taste like a peanut butter and jam sandwich. Not a bad drink however

    Mr Unro

Exciting and flavorsome well recommended for a taste-bud explosion and a journey into old time forgotten tastes.

    Adequate

As a bourbon it's fine, but the nose is far more exciting than the taste. You can just about pick up the raspberry, but the peanut is completely lost.

    Damn tasty

This stuff gets the balance right. Not too sweet, not to spirity (like an old fashioned). The bottle advises to mix it on ice, but I prefer to just drink it neat. Peanut comes through nicely and the raspberry adds just a subtle hint of fruit to the finish.
