Glenfiddich 40 Year Old – Rare Collection (Release Number 17) is the Super Wish this week as #WhiskySanta really gets into the Christmas groove.
Brrrrrrrrrr! It’s getting cold now. You think it’s freezing in Britain, well, it’s even colder in my secret HQ somewhere in the icy north. It’s so cold that I’ve taken to wearing a series of novelty items that I have accumulated over the years on my travels. I’m currently wearing reindeer-shaped earmuffs, an I Love New York scarf, and some Flashdance-branded aerobics leg warmers. Had those for a while!
None of them has anything to do with today’s Super Wish though, or last week’s for that matter. First, @thehonestmumreviews was super good this year so their Super Wish was granted and they now have a bottle of Singleton of Glen Ord 39 Year Old worth £2,250 under their tree. Now that’s a lot of leg warmers!
For this week we have Glenfiddich 40 Year Old – Rare Collection (Release Number 17), which would cost almost £3,500 if you were buying, not wishing. A spectacular single malt Scotch whisky, it’s the 17th in the highly sought-after and much-adored Rare Collection. Could you guess that from the name? You’ll have also worked out that the whisky was matured for four decades, but what you might not know is that remnants of whisky from the previous bottling made its way into the blending process. Immensely satisfying.
Now, you’ve probably got the idea of how to do the Super Wish thing but unlike Jeremy Paxman on University Challenge, I’m not going to say in an impatient voice “let’s just get on with it,” because some people might not know how it works. So here goes: Head to the Glenfiddich 40 Year Old page and hit the big snazzy red button marked “Wish”. You will then be struck by festive amazement as box to send a pre-populated Twitter or Facebook post will appear. Remember to hit ‘publish’. On Instagram, you need to use the #WhiskySanta hashtag on grid posts, and tag @MasterOfMalt in Stories.
Couldn’t be simpler. So good luck and maybe you’ll be the one I grant this Super Wish to. Just get them in by 23:59 GMT Thursday 1 December. Now, it’s on with those legwarmers, turn up my trusty pink Sony Walkman and it’s time for an ’80s workout #WhiskySanta style. “She’s a maniac, maniac….” Helps work off all those mince pies… Bye for now, but I’ll be back on Monday!
