Every year Buffalo Trace drops a range of rare, delicious, and very in-demand whiskies. So much so that we can’t just pop them on our site regularly. It’s ballot time, folks, for a chance to get your hand on the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection 2021.

For people like us, the release of Buffalo Trace Distillery’s Antique Collection is one of the standout moments in the whiskey calendar. And the 2021 range is finally here!

These uncut and unfiltered whiskeys are a gold standard of bourbon production, marshalled by rigorous quality tests. We’re talking turbidity tests. Gas chromatography. A team of taste testers. And if even one person isn’t sufficiently impressed, the barrel goes back to age longer.

That’s why the 2021 lineup does not include the traditional George T. Stagg bottle. The distillery says it lacked sufficient barrels to meet its high standards for a 2021 release. So, we’ve done the decent thing and got our hands on some of the 2020 release bottles to make up for the lack of Stagg. We’re always thinking of you.

It’s ballot time!

But, as demand for these is going to be incredibly high as always, we’re going to do our best to keep things fair and square by holding a ballot, with winners getting the opportunity to buy a bottle at RRP. Simply head here and then click the button to enter yourself into the ballot. It will ask you for your email and name. Winners are chosen at random to be selected to purchase the whiskeys on the 19 April.

Best of luck, and there’s an idea of what to expect from this year below.

Buffalo Trace Antique Collection 2021

They’re here!

Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye (2021 Release)

The collection’s straight rye whiskey was distilled in the spring of 2015 and matured in warehouses I, L, O and K before being bottled at 64.7% ABV. The distillery says to expect a flavour profile that includes anise and cinnamon with a finish of spearmint and chocolate. We have 24 bottles of this.

William Larue Weller (2021 Release)

The Antique Collection’s wheated-recipe bourbon, distilled in the winter of 2009 and aged in Warehouses C, D, K, L and Q before being bottled at 62.6% ABV. Expect a nose of crème brulee, followed by cherry and toasted graham crackers on the palate, the company says, and a finish of cocoa, herbs and oak. We have a total of 18 bottles of this beauty.

Eagle Rare 17 Year Old (2021 Release)

This stunning bourbon was distilled in the spring of 2002 and matured on the first floor of Warehouse P before it was bottled at 50.5% ABV. This bourbon has a nose of ripe cherries, vanilla cream and oak, according to Buffalo Trace, followed by a taste of caramel and coffee and a finish of oak, pepper and fresh herbs. We have just 3 bottles of this.

Sazerac Rye 18 Year Old

A tremendous straight rye whiskey that was distilled back in the spring of 2003 and rested on the second and fourth floors of Warehouses K and P before being bottled at 45% ABV. The distillery says to expect flavours of bright apples and herbs, anise and maple syrup on the palate, and a finish of cocoa, coffee and dates. Once again, we have just 3 bottles of this.

George T. Stagg Bourbon (2020 release)

Remember this guy? A special bonus just for MoM customers, we have 12 bottles of the 2020 release so you can get your regular fix of Stagg in the absence of a 2021 bottling.
