#WhiskySanta’s Glenfarclas 50 Year Old Decanter Super Wish

It’s the final Super Wish of the season and #WhiskySanta is going out with a bang.

I almost can’t bring myself to do another ‘ho, ho, ho!’ It’s bittersweet for me, this moment. The final Super Wish. I’ve loved spoiling you these last few weeks. Just ask Matthew Watkiss (@crusiccrusic) about how they feel now they have a bottle of Craigellachie 39 year old 1980 worth £3,500 on the way.

But, with Christmas this week, I’m afraid my Super Wishing is done for another year. Save for one last prize. And it’s a corker. It’s Glenfarclas 50 Year Old Decanter!

This incredible £12,000 decanter of Glenfarclas has spent 50 years ageing, which isn’t much to me but in human and, in particular, whisky terms it’s quite the thing. That half a century of maturation was spent in Spanish oak sherry casks, left to rest in cool dunnage warehouses, and only 146 bottles were produced. Oh, and that decanter is Glencairn Crystal, hand-decorated in copper complete with a copper stopper as well as a red mahogany piano-finished gift box. Tell me that isn’t going out in style…

Now, let’s do this one last time. To those who don’t know or need reminding of how to Super Wish, you’ll want to start by heading to the Glenfarclas 50 Year Old Decanter. There you’ll see the zazzy red button that says “Wish” on it. A box will pop up ready to send you onwards to a pre-populated Twitter or Facebook post. Just hit ‘publish’ and you’ve completed your wish! For Instagram, you can pop a post on your feed with the #WhiskySanta hashtag.

Wishes need to be submitted by 23:59 GMT Thursday 23 December, because on Christmas Eve I’ll be granting one! Mrs #WS will deny me her signature Christmas pudding if she sees me still working on Super Wishes on Christmas Day. Trust me when I say this folks, I will not be missing out on that pudding.

It has been an absolute pleasure doing this once again, perhaps I’ll see you next year? Best of luck on the final Super Wish!

It’s Super Wish o’clock again, and this time we’ve got a scrumptiously well-aged Speysider up for grabs – it’s only Craigellachie 39 Year Old 1980!

Can you believe this is nearly my final Super Wish? Time goes so fast when you’re an omniscient bearded being. #Relatable.

A great big whisky-shaped congratulations has to go to rugbypicboy on Instagram who won last week’s Super Wish, the spectacular Glenfiddich 40 Year Old – Rare Collection worth £3,274.95. Everyone else is likely green with Glenfiddich envy, but there’s no time to dilly-dally. Just look what’s up next!

Craigellachie 39 Year Old 1980 Super Wish

Say hello to this single cask Craigellachie 39 Year Old 1980 from the distillery’s Exceptional Cask Series. This lip-smacker is worth £3,500 – no wonder, since it was distilled back in 1980. That’s the same year ABBA released The Winner Takes It All, which is rather fortuitous because whoever gets their hands on this juicy little number really will take it all. Time for another ABBA marathon, I think.

The whisky spent nearly four decades slumbering in a single refill ex-bourbon hogshead, and was specially chosen in 2019 by Craigellachie malt master Stephanie Macleod. Maybe I’ll change my name to Christmas master next year… Anyway, just 138 bottles of this special stuff were produced, and I’m giving away one of them!

The tasting notes on the bottle hint that it tastes like ‘charred pineapple dipped in honey, delicate oak, toasted cereal and polished antique leather’. Well, now that almost sounds better than a mince pie, doesn’t it?

To get your Super Wish on the list, just pop over to the Craigellachie 39 Year Old 1980 product page and press the big red button – the one that says “Wish” on it. A box will pop up ready to send you onwards to a pre-populated Twitter or Facebook post. All you need to do is hit ‘publish’, and your wish will be sent off into the stratosphere, through my wish-o-matic at the North Pole, and then on to MoM Towers. You have until 23:59 GMT Thursday 16 December. If you want to enter from Instagram, you can! Just pop a post on your feed with the #WhiskySanta hashtag.

There’s only one more Super Wish to go after this week, so make sure you get those requests in – though after that it’s the big day, so don’t be too sad.

Sleigh you later!

#WhiskySanta’s Glenfiddich 40 Year Old Rare Collection Super Wish

#WhiskySanta and his Super Wishes are making Monday’s magic. If you’re not convinced yet, after this week’s prize you will be. It’s Glenfiddich 40 Year Old Rare Collection!

Ho, ho, ho! I don’t mean to toot my own trumpet, but I really feel like I’m in the swing of Super Wish season now. With every week comes a new delight to giveaway and, best of all, a deserving winner. Take @pswhisky, for example, who is getting a Baccarat decanter filled with Courvoisier Heritage de Louis Renard worth £2,999.95 delivered right to their door.

If you want to know what the joy of getting a bottle that great feels like, then you’ll want to see my latest Super Wish: Glenfiddich 40 year old Rare Collection (Release Number 17)!

Glenfiddich 40 Year Old Rare Collection

From a classic distillery, this 40 year old is made by the malt master who selects individual casks before marrying them together with what was leftover from the previous 40 year old vatting. It’s a fancy-Dan continuous process known as ‘remnant vatting’ and, fun fact: Glenfiddich is the only single malt Scotch whisky in the industry to do this! Oh, and each bottle is wrapped in hand-stitched calf leather and accompanied by a leather-bound book telling its 40-year-old story, with certification and hand signed by the distilleries longest-serving craftsmen.

Now, I’m sure most of you know how to make your Super Wish by now, but if you’re new (welcome!) then start by heading to the Glenfiddich 40 year old Rare Collection (Release Number 17) page. You’ll see a slick red button that says “Wish” on it. Once you click it, a box will pop up that will send you to a pre-populated Twitter or Facebook post. Hit ‘publish’ and viola! You’ve completed your wish. Oh, and for Instagram you’ll want to pop a post on your feed with the #WhiskySanta hashtag. No selfies required.

If you get those wishes in by 23:59 GMT 9 Thursday then you’re in the running. It’s that simple. Like making gingerbread men. I like to decorate mine as characters from Lord of the Rings, personally. I’d like to say Gandalf the Ginger shall not pass these lips, but I can’t abide this clean eating nonsense. I’m only human (I’m not, but ‘I’m a supernatural being’ doesn’t have the same ring to it). Now, get wishing!

Christmas is coming, and that means we have another #WhiskySanta Super Wish. This week we’re heading to France with a super fancy Cognac, Courvoisier Héritage de Louis Renard.

Good afternoon, drinks lovers! Or if you’re reading this at a different time of day, the appropriate greeting applies. Right, it’s time to announce the winner of last week’s Super Wish. Congratulations to Robert Pfeifer @RNCPfeifer winner of the amazing Talisker 41 year old 1978. Worth £2,900! Just think how many cocktail sausages you could buy with that!

Courvoisier Héritage de Louis Renard

Mmmm, cocktail sausages. I do love a sausage. But there’s isn’t time to dwell on those delicious porky treats because I have another Super Wish to give away. It’s Courvoisier Héritage de Louis Renard! This is a tribute to the first Courvoisier cellar master of the 20th Century, Louis Renard. It’s made up of some extraordinarily well-matured eaux-de-vie blended by current master blender Patrice Pinet. One of only 50 produced, it comes in a Baccarat decanter. This would normally set you back nearly £3000, but I’m giving one away for free. Cos I’m #WhiskySanta.

If you’re not sure how to make your Super Wish, I shall explain. Simply head to the page and hit the snazzy button which is red like my outfit and has the word “Wish” on it. A box will pop up ready to send you onwards to a pre-populated Twitter or Facebook post and, as long as you remember to hit ‘publish’ then you’ve completed your wish! If you’re one of those Instagrammer folks, then you can pop a post on your feed with the #WhiskySanta hashtag.

Be sure to get those wishes in by 23:59 GMT Thursday 2 December. That leaves plenty of time to send it via Elvish Delivery (or another courier company) to be under your tree by Christmas! But first, one little sausage. See you next week!

Who’s ready for some #WhiskySanta Monday magic? Good, because this week’s Super Wish is so good you’d swim to the Isle of Skye to taste it… It’s Talisker 41 year old 1978!

Ho, ho, ho! We’re really getting into the Super Wish groove now, aren’t we? Personally, I play Bob Sinclar’s Rock This Party every time I’m putting together a new giveaway. It doesn’t always have to be Christmas music, you know (just most of the time). Somebody who will be feeling the party vibes this week will be Mark @_VmarkV_, who has just won a bottle of Bunnahabhain 40 Year Old worth £1,700!

Now, onto my latest Super Wish, which is another spectacular Scotch:

Talisker 41 year old 1978 Super Wish

Talisker 41 year old 1978 Super Wish

The second release in the Bodega series from the Isle of Skye distillery, Talisker 41 year old 1978 was distilled all the way back in, you guessed it, 1978, when #WhiskySanta had a ‘fro and platform shoes with little goldfish in the heels. The whisky was then aged in refill American oak barrels before it was treated to a finishing period in six Manzanilla sherry casks over 100 years old from Delgado Zuleta, one of Jerez’s oldest producers. I remember those days too. The afro was much more controversial then. I’ve always been ahead of my time. Eventually, once it reached the ripe old age of 41 years, the whisky was bottled at 50.7% ABV comes in a very stylish presentation case. Fancy.

To make your Super Wish, just head to Talisker 41 year old 1978 page and hit the big red button that says “Wish” on it. A box will pop up ready to send you onwards to a pre-populated Twitter or Facebook post and, once you hit ‘publish’, your wish may well become my command. As long as you do that by 23:59 GMT 25 Thursday. Oh, and Instagrammers can pop a post on their feed with the #WhiskySanta hashtag.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to dig my goldfish shoes out of storage and get the ‘70s playlist on. I’m very busy at the moment but everyone needs a little dance break from time to time.

Another week has come around which brings us ever closer to Christmas. Which means another #WhiskySanta Super Wish. And it’s a stonker: Bunnahabhain 40 Year Old. Stonk.

Ho, ho, ho! I’m back, and this time it’s personal. I am so enjoying Christmas this year. Before we get into this week’s Super Wish, I want to offer my congratulations to baz_dale who was the winner of last week’s amazing Midleton Method & Madness Single Pot Still 28 Year Old worth £1,550. Or over 6,000 premium mince pies.

Bunnahabhain 40 year old super wish

But my big sack isn’t empty yet. Not by a long way as this week’s Super Wish is the gorgeous Bunnahabhain 40 Year Old single malt whisky from Islay worth nearly £1,700! Or 6,800 premium mince pies. We know that Master of Malt customers will love this Bunnahabhain. After all, the distillery was chosen over all the producers and brands in the entire world to be crowned our Whisky Icons Champion. This 40 year old has all the Bunnahabhain magic you’d expect, but turned up to 11. This is a Super Wish and a half.

Bunnahabhain 40 Year Old

If you’re not sure how to make your Super Wish, it’s easy! Just head to the page and hit the snazzy button which is red like my outfit and has the word “Wish” on it. A box will pop up ready to send you onwards to a pre-populated Twitter or Facebook post and, as long as you remember to hit ‘publish’ then you’ve completed your wish! Now, I’m a busy supernatural being so do be sure to get those wishes in by 23:59 GMT Thursday 18 November. That leaves plenty of time to send it out on my sleigh (or a reputable courier service) and safely under your tree! It just doesn’t stop round here. Of course, it will stop, at Christmas, but until then, get wishing!

It’s Monday and that means #WhiskySanta has a showstopper of a Super Wish to tell you all about.

Ho, ho, ho! Did you all enjoy the first week of my return? I’ve already granted plenty of wishes, including my first Super Wish of the season. And we have a winner. Congratulations to Gary (@GazStoke), we know you’ll love your gorgeous crystal decanter bottle of Woodford Reserve Baccarat Edition worth £1,500!

Now it’s time to let your jaws drop to the floor in astonishment at my latest super wish: Midleton Method & Madness Single Pot Still 28 Year Old!

Worth £1,550 in human currency, to lovers of great Irish whiskey this beauty from Midleton’s experimental Method and Madness range is almost priceless.  It’s a single pot still whiskey that was initially aged in bourbon casks for 6 years, before being moved over to a ruby Port pipe (which was seasoned with a variety of wines before being further seasoned with ruby Port) to age for another 22 years. There’s really nowhere else that you’ll get whiskey like this other than from Midleton. It’s truly astounding stuff, with notes of fleshy mango, kiwi, toasted oak, light spice, barley grains, green banana, and ripe plums.

If you’re not sure how to make your super wish, it’s easy! Just head to Midleton Method & Madness Single Pot Still 28 Year Old page and hit the zazzy red button that says “Wish” on it.

Now, I’m a busy benevolent bee so do be sure to get those wishes in by 23:59 GMT Thursday 11 November. There’s method in my madness too, you know, and the elves need to get these beauties out to you wonderful folk in good time so we can move onto the next Super Wish, which I’ll reveal next Monday. For now, get wishing!

#WhiskySanta returns with over £500k to give away!

He’s brilliantly beardy, omniscient, and partial to a dram. And he’s back for our biggest year ever. #WhiskySanta is here to give away more than £500,000-worth of delicious drinks!

Ho ho ho! Hello again, old friends! I’m back to bring you another sleigh full of boozy goodies and, because it’s been a tough old year, I’ve decided you all deserve to be super spoiled. I’m giving away so many Santa smiles it’s hard to count, but in your currency, I’m told it’s over £500,000 worth of whiskies, gins, rums, and more.

This is my biggest year ever. And I’m back earlier than I have ever been because there’s so much to give away (and because Mrs #WS says I need to work off the incoming mince pies, so I need an hour free every day for Zumba). So, as there are lots to get through let’s not waste any more time celebrating my return. Let’s get going!

Get those wishes in!

Let’s start with how to get my attention with all your lovely wishes. It’s through a strange and terrifying magic that you call ‘the social media’. I’ve never quite got my head around how it works, so luckily the kind folks at Master of Malt take care of it for me.

So here’s how they tell me it works. Those handy little ‘Wish’ buttons next to every product on the website are also back again. They really are little lifesavers. So, when you see a bottle you love, follow the links on the page to share your wish for this treat on Twitter or Facebook using #WhiskySanta. You can wish on your Instagram feed too, just screenshot your favourite bottle on Master of Malt’s story, and post it to your feed with the hashtag #WhiskySanta.

I’ve been told to remind you to make sure your social profiles and any posts you make are ‘Public’, or even with my omniscience I won’t be able to see them. I’ll be granting wishes on social media every single day from now until Christmas Eve and, if you do the above, you may just find your wish comes true.

#WhiskySanta Wish button

Gifts with orders

Once again, I also have access to the Master of Malt checkout so I can give away tens of thousands of free gifts right up until Christmas Eve! Picture it, you’re picking up a nice bottle of Christmas Mulled Cup to make your famous mulled wine for all your friends. You hit ‘Complete Order’ and… wait, what’s this? A little note from yours truly on the Order Confirmation page (like the one below) offering you something extra for free!

Whether it’s treats such as 30ml drams, 50ml miniatures, or Master of Malt Gift Vouchers up to £50 – I’ll even be picking up the tab for entire orders! – I really do love giving a little extra at this time of year. It’s a bit like when you guys leave out milk and cookies for me. I’ve got over 50,000 drams to give away this year, with brands like Bathtub Gin, Deanston, and Talisker among the selection.

You will need to click the ‘Yes please!’ button to accept the gift. You can, of course, choose not to accept the gift by clicking the ‘No thanks’ button, and your gift will go to someone else. I truly cannot understand why anyone would do that, to be honest, but then I also hear that some people don’t even like mince pies.

#WhiskySanta free order

The return of Super Wishes

Yes, it’s the one you’ve all been waiting for. The Super Wishes. Your weekly chance to get your hands on booze so good you’ll think I started this whole wishing operation just for you. Given this is my biggest year yet, naturally, the Super Wishes are also bigger and better than ever. This year there are eight super-exclusive Super Wishes up my sleeve so keep a close eye on the Master of Malt blog and social to make sure you don’t miss any of these amazing opportunities!

Update:

For the final week before the big day, I have the superlative Glenfarclas 50 Year Old Decanter worth £12,000! Extraordinarily aged Speyside single malt from this independent distillery. Just 146 bottles were produced, and one would look rather nice under your tree, don’t you think? Get your wishes in by 23:59 Thursday 23 December – yours could be granted!

So, that’s my next two months sorted. I suggest you start making your lists. As for me, I’m going to have one last good luck mince pie and a nice dram before my exercise classes start. Now, give it to me straight, what even is a Zumba?

#WhiskySanta

It’s goodbye from #WhiskySanta

Well, it’s time for #WhiskySanta to disappear for another year after a bumper Christmas. But before he puts his feet up, he has one more thing to say…

Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas!

Well, it’s been a funny old year, funny peculiar, that is, but luckily all the strangeness didn’t affect my ability to spread cheer this season. With a little help from my chums at Master of Malt, I’ve given away over £250,000-worth of boozy goodness, and eaten my bodyweight many times over in mince pies. I do love Christmas!

But now, like the boot cut jean, it’s over, and it’s time for me to say goodbye. Before I go, however, I want to take a moment to remember some of those amazing bottles I gave away including the snappily-titled Port Ellen 35 Year Old 1983 (Release No.11535) – The Stories of Wind & Wave (The Character of Islay Whisky Company), a Glenfarclas 1958 Family Cask, Balvenie’s magnificent 40 Year Old, Tamnavulin 48 Year Old 1970, or, all the way from the US of A, Woodford Reserve Baccarat Edition. Extraordinary, even if I do say so myself!

Those were just some of the big ‘uns. I also gave away tens of thousands of gifts large and small to lucky Master of Malt customers who placed orders. Some of you even received your orders completely free!

But all good things must come to an end and, to be honest, despite being a supernatural, omniscient being, I need a rest too. It’s not easy dispensing boozy cheer and writing amusing blog posts while keeping my enormous beard immaculately groomed. In January, I’m just going to put my feet up and put some time into that screenplay I’ve been working on: it’s about a supernatural, heavily-bearded being… Stop! I can’t say anymore, as I don’t want anyone to pinch this clearly entirely original movie premise…

Merry Christmas and happy New Year, one and all!

#WhiskySanta’s Glenfarclas 1958 (cask 2065) Family Cask Autumn 2014 Release Super Wish

It’s the final Super Wish of the season! Has #WhiskySanta saved the best until last? Fans of spectacularly sherried Scotch single malt will think so…

There aren’t many things that can make an supernatural, omniscient being like myself feel old. But looking at a bottle of whisky from 1958 does make you recall a time when you could buy a cracking bottle of the good stuff and still have change left over to pick up a pack of Junior Mints and catch a late showing of the Attack of the 50 Foot Woman. Much like the start of this year’s gift-giving extravanganza, it feels like yesterday, and yet somehow we’re already in the last week of Christmas and I only have one Super Wish left to grant!

But this festive fellow isn’t feeling sorry for himself, because I have the joy of giving away the most sublime Scotch this week and there’s nothing I love more than treating you lovely lot to the best of the best. And this week’s Super Wish is certainly that. If this whisky had a Blind Date profile (that’s a contemporary reference, right?), it would say that it’s over 50 years young, it loves to slumber in Spanish oak sherry casks and spend time with its family at their distillery in Speyside. Folks, feast your eyes on the wonderful…

#WhiskySanta’s Glenfarclas 1958 (cask 2065) Family Cask Autumn 2014 Release Super Wish

What a way to finish another year of amazing Super Wishes. If I do say so myself…

I have a bit of form for making the final Super Wish a spectacular bottle of Glenfarclas and if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! This astonishingly exciting expression is a 1958 vintage Glenfarclas, which was aged in a single Sherry hogshead until July 2014 when it was bottled 40.2% ABV. There were only 138 bottles released and it’s worth over six reindeer rubles, or £6,000 in your currency. You simply know that this complex, refined and decadent dram is going to be the best Christmas present you get this year.

Now, for the last time, I’m going to explain how you make a Super Wish. I know everybody is familiar with the process by now, but it prolongs the experience so indulge me. To make your wish, you need to head to the product page and then give that big red ‘Wish’ button a mighty click (I like to say the word ‘click’ out loud when I do it because I’m tremendous fun). A box with options for a pre-populated Twitter or Facebook post will then appear on your screen, which you can publish on the platform of your choice. If Instagram is more your bag, then you also have the option of posting your wish on your feed using the #WhiskySanta hashtag. Just make that hashtag in the post. It’s how the lovely folk at MoM are able to find your wish. Plus, it’s really nice to see your name all over Instagram. It makes me feel like Kylie Jenner or that egg (ah, a simpler time).

For one last time this year, give that big red button a click

Don’t forget everyone, I may be wrapping up the Super Wishing but I’m still giving away plenty of goodies right up until Christmas Eve! Happy wishing and a very Merry Christmas to you all.
