Miracle Mile Barrel-Aged Forbidden Bitters
Those Miracle Mile chaps out in LA have gone and barrel-aged their Forbidden Bitters! (Quick catch-up: Their Forbidden bitters are made with zedoary, angelica root, galangal, vanilla, cardamom, cinnamon and clove in the style of 19th century aromatic bitters, and they're marvellous!) They've allowed a batch of Forbidden Bitter to age for six months in a barrel which previously held Sonoma County Rye before bottling them up.
Fun fact: The barrel used for these bitters has gone on to age beer! We look forward to hearing the continuing tales of this prolific cask.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Big, bold notes of cinnamon and clove, backed up by muscular oak-y elements. A lighter whiff of Herbes de Provence gives it a balancing salinity, joined by sweet/earthy vanilla pod.
