Château de Léberon's Solera 2001 is a rather fruity expression, composed of Ugni Blanc and Colombard grapes. As the name suggests, this Armagnac was aged in a solera system, which is particularly interesting, as it's a method more usually associated with fortified wines (and to some extent, rum). We're not quite sure exactly what's going on in the label, but it looks like something along the lines of a giant turnip in a wooden cask. It has a face. There may also be a ladybird person? It's certainly a scene to peruse while you're sipping this fine French brandy.
Full-bodied and vibrant, with notes of stewed fruit and fruit compote, marrying quince, fig and dried apricot, and a good helping of oak on the finish.
