This is a 20cl bottle of St. George Absinthe Verte, made by infusing brandy with star anise, wormwood and fennel, then distilling it, and then a second infusion of mint, tarragon, opal basil, lemon balm, hyssop, meadowsweet, and stinging nettles takes place.
Fantastic American absinthe, produced by the awesome St. George Spirits chaps out in California. The St. George Absinthe Verte was the first legal American absinthe released in the US after the ban, as the distillers had been perfecting their recipe for 11 years (just not selling any), so they were ready!
This tiny bottle is perfect for those of you that make cocktails with absinthe rinses, like the classic Sazerac. Little bottle, big flavour (and big ABV too!).
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose Crisp anise and heady floral notes. A touch of vegetal nettle notes. Sweet, refreshing lemon.
Palate Intense wormwood is evident at the core of this one. Earthy hyssop and fennel arrive alongside. Authentic anise all the way through.
Finish Lasting anise and a slight touch of bitter herbs. Lemon balm lingers for a good while afterwards.
