    Murmichan Scottish Absinthe

The following shouldn't really come as a surprise to you - Scotland is quite well-known for its whisky but not particularly well-known for its absinthe. This might change with the introduction of Murmichan, which is said to be the first Scottish absinthe! It's made with a combination of traditional (wormwood, aniseed, fennel, star anise) and Scottish botanicals (bramble leaves, heather flower), and has been bottled at 64% ABV.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Citrus peels, nettle tea, thyme, liquorice root, white pepper.

    Great Tipple

Tried a few absinthe on holiday and this one stood out from the rest. Wonderful to drink sitting on a beach in the aisle of Skye

    Spellbindingly delightful

Pure Magic in a Glass.. absolutely delighted with Murmichan, my first absinthe I've tried and its set the bar exceptionally high. Gorgeous balanced flavours, exceptional freshness and crisp finish. The Scottish botanicals and honey really pull through the bolder flavours which I was surprised with. Excellent quality for the price Smooth enough so san be drank neat, or as per tradition Well done lost loch!

Oof, you won't beat the quality at this excellent price

Be though myself a long time absinthe-drinker, truth be told it's been a long time since I've imbibed - due to spiralling taxation and importion costs... Behold! As I thought all were lost due to such a financial inconvenience, the Murmichan flashed her iridescent tail through the white, frothing shores of La Fée Verte - and I reckoned I would fancy my chances at a catch. Well rounded, and soft on the palette without letting up on a melange of herbal complexity. Oh, and that louche! It louches beautifully, like a fragment of Chinese jade in soft lamplight. The palate is sweet and musky, and I found it louched well with brown sugar to bring out the hyssop and bitter wormwood. Should ye embark on such a voyage to bring an historical drink to life through the eyes of a Scottish fae, look no further than to trade your coin for this bottle. Highly recommended, says I!

    An excellent, well made absinthe

This is an excellent absinthe following a traditional recipe with an added Scottish twist. It is well made and the quality shows as it doesn't have an overpowering black liquorice flavour and instead you get the wormwood menthol coming through before a hint of sweet heather hits in the finish. Mixed with water it has an excellent louche. This is a very reasonably priced absinthe that puts more expensive ones to shame.
