A curious bottle from Devil’s Botany, this 63% abv absinthe is inspired by recipe books unearthed from London’s 18th century apothecaries. It is infused with 22 botanicals including grand wormwood, green anise, cinnamon and nutmeg, as well as the aptly named Devil’s Claw root, renowned for sharpening up one’s appetite. Serve over ice with still or sparkling water, it makes an excellent aperitif.
Distinctive herbal aromas of green anise, fennel and wormwood, followed by cardamom, cinnamon and galangal root. Tongue-numbing on the palate, with anise and fennel to the fore and a kick of spice.
Deliciously spiced absinthe. Wonderful green colour! Drank it in the traditional way with a fountain (no sugar was used) and also added a little to my Boulevardier.... :)
