The Mojito cocktail is a staple of summer drinking, but you know what the Mojito doesn't involve? Gin. This is a shame. Gin is nice. However, those clever Conker Spirit folks down in Dorset along with That Boutique-y Gin Company and Peter Holland from The Floating Rum Shack have come up with a way to work gin into the mix! Mojito Gin is built around a molasses base spirit, a nod to the cocktail's traditional rum base, and features generous helpings of fresh mint and lime alongside a traditional selection of gin botanicals.
Bright and refreshing, the peppermint jumps out of the glass right away. Lively juniper and citrus notes follow on shortly, with a touch of peppercorn lingering on the finish.
The nose is bright and inviting, with fresh citrus notes of lime and a burst of mint that instantly evokes the refreshing mojito cocktail. There’s a subtle sweetness alongside herbal complexities from the gin's botanicals, with a hint of juniper providing depth.
On the palate, the gin is smooth and lively. The mint takes center stage, complemented by tangy lime, creating a refreshing and crisp flavour profile. A touch of sweetness balances the citrus and mint, while the gin’s botanicals add a layer of complexity without overpowering the fresh notes.
The finish is clean, with lingering mint and a zesty citrus aftertaste. A slight sweetness remains, and the subtle presence of juniper rounds off the experience, allowing the refreshing mojito-inspired flavors to shine through.
Was not sure at first...but squeeze some lime juice from a wedge and drop it in perfect ?
Wasn't sure about this but it's now a firm favourite - love the fresh flavours
I have to agree with the reviewer that said, 'no'. I used to love a mojito in the days when sugar wasn't a worry so this seemed like a good compromise, but the mint is really overpowering. It doesn't taste like the fresh mint I associate with a mojito, it's very mentholated and that didn't make for a pleasant drink to me. Glad I ordered a sample size as for me, this was undrinkable.
No!!! Just no! Was desperate to try this gin but it tasted more like peppermint than mojito. Needs more lime and sweetness
Fantastic! The mint is almost ethereal! A truly new gin experience
