That Boutique-y Whisky Company
Scotland
Single Malt
The third batch of Tonintoul whisky bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company, and the first with an age statement - this one is a superb 21 year old single malt! The label features Jas Scott and Mikey Aikman mixing up a "That's Not a Bramble!?", along with the recipe. However, if you don't feel like making one youself, there's a voucher on the back label for a free "That's Not a Bramble!?" at the Bramble bar in Edinburgh!
Batch 3 is a release of 406 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Leafy green notes and dried grass lead with brown sugar, toasted almonds and vanilla fudge. Lots of rich toffee and a helping of marzipan icing provide an unctuous sweetness.
Acacia honey and more toffee initially with toasted vanilla and fiery ginger in support. Plenty of oak-driven spiciness and earthy notes add depth.
Sweet but peppered.
A distinct malt with complexity and a developing array of flavour.

Tried neat, it's all nut praline and powdered sugar with a little cooked apple and some gallia melon on the nose. Lovely creamy mouthfeel, light honey and caramel on the palate with some spiciness, giving way to a medium to long finish that starts sweet but ends in a slightly bitter oakiness. A few drops of water releases a more typical Tomintoul character on the nose with a bit more honey, but it flattens out the palate completely. The spiciness is completely lost and it absolutely shortens the finish. Despite an ABV of 48.9% I wouldn't add any water to this, it's absolutely great the way it is.
So glad I decided to treat myself to this big fan of tomintoul whisky and this one did not disappoint.
