What's in a name? Strathisla 1954 (Gordon and MacPhail) whisky is called whisky because it's produced in Scotland. Were it from America it would be spelled Strathisla 1954 (Gordon and MacPhail) whiskey, rather than whisky.
The nose is quite sweet with notes of fino sherry and winter spice. Some hay and green grassy tones emerge with a buttery character. The palate is quite full with a good cereal sweetness. There are notes of sherried peels and calves leather with a touch of pine oil and sap. There are hints of charred oak with a developing smoke. The finish is long and smoked.
