The nose is quite spirity with notes of Calvados, beeswax, apple peels and dried cereal notes and oats. There are some notes of cut hay and a little salinity. The palate is rich and punchy. Notes of beeswax and a solid smoky peat rise. There are hints of smoked meats and kippers, a touch of burnt sugar and some aniseed sweetness. The oak is quite full and develops with solid tannins. There are some herbal notes, hints of winter spice and chilli. The finish is long and herbal with superb integration of flavour.
