    Single Malt

Glen Grant 40 Year Old 1969 - Cask Strength Collection (Signatory)

A beautifully dark whisky bottled by Signatory. This was distilled on the 17th March 1969 and matured for 40 years in a single cask, a fresh Oloroso sherry hogshead number 2016. This was bottled at cask strength on the 14th September 2009. There are just 188 bottles of this!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Is this rum, sherry or whisky? Crikey! Muscovado sugar, dates, almond, banana skin, a hint of rubber and big, creaking oak…

    Palate

Rich and beautifully balanced. There’s a herbal side, with suggestions of Chinese flavours such as hoi sin and black bean sauce. This marries well with the grape-like sweetness, and hints of plum tart. Picks up savoury spices/cardamom with a little black coffee.

    Finish

The more savoury/bitter notes develop on the finish, making it thoroughly interesting with plenty of herbal complexity.
