Royal Brackla 1991 (bottled 2007) - Connoisseurs Choice (Gordon & MacPhail)
A rare 15 year old from Brackla, distilled in 1991 and bottled for the Gordon and MacPhail Connoisseur's Choice range in 2006 and a refill sherry matured single malt, accordingly the sherry notes shines through with toasty aplomb.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
The nose is quite sherried. There is a lovely herbaceous greenness and a good fruit development supersedes juicy sultanas and gentle oak with tropical fruit and citrus and soft smoke with underlying burnt heather roots and cut grass. The palate has good sweetness and medium depth, the sherried notes are joined with an oily nuttiness and a little smoke. Some sweet notes from the toasty oak and vanilla emerge. The finish is of good length with raisiny sweetness and soft oak.
